Welcome to My Journey
Hello and welcome! Thank you for being here, I’m Sydney Griffin, and my journey in Yakima, WA, is shaped by Finnish heritage, faith, and a lifetime of building—whether it’s homes, boats, ministries, or memories through a camera lens. From my grandfather’s immigration in 1938 to my ventures in construction, marine work, photography, and community leadership, my story is one of resilience, learning, Generosity and mentoring others. This site isn’t about selling services—it’s about sharing my journey, hoping to inspire you to chase your own path with purpose. Dive in to explore my world, from crafting a sailboat at 13 to running for St. Jude’s and guiding others to success.
My Story
My Sydney Griffin journey began in Michigan’s Great Lakes region, where my Finnish grandfather, Sydney Griffin Sr., arrived in 1938 and built custom homes by 1940. His grit and palla inspired me as a kid, whether building a sailboat at 13 or starting a lawn care business at 17 in Hoffman Estates, IL, in 1979. Those early hustles taught me hard work and connection, values I carried into my 20s As I followed my grandfather’s footsteps and founded S.A. Griffin Construction Services in Tampa, FL, in 1987, framing homes with precision.
Life’s challenges—like losing my business and facing a divorce in the 2000s—led me to Christianity, sparking a new purpose to serve others. The director Bill Lukens and I founded NINO Ministry in 2010 to guide spiritual growth, I started AngelsGate Marine in 2013 to keep yachts seaworthy, and became a FEMA-endorsed disaster inspector in 2024, as detailed in my accomplishments. My creative side flourished through photography since 1985, capturing dolphins from my sailboat With my camera. Running 5,000 miles for St. Jude’s since 2016 and earning a 3.00+ GPA in college reflect my commitment to growth and giving back, always mentoring others to turn challenges into opportunities.
Where I’m Going
Today, I blend my passions—carpentry, marine work, photography, and leadership—to make a difference in Yakima and beyond. Through the Angels Gate Foundation, founded in 2022, I’m tackling issues like homelessness and poverty. I’m excited to create jobs for the less fortunate, mentor youth in trades, and sail the California coast, maybe to Hawaii, capturing moments along the way. In 10 years, I hope to see a ripple effect: people I’ve guided leading their own initiatives, rooted in faith and resilience, building stronger communities together.
